Hi, Howdy, Hola Y’all!

I’m Marissa Benavides Joyner, a multidisciplinary artist living in Austin, TX.

Like most artists I picked up a pencil at a very young age and never looked back. I took art so seriously that I earned a Varsity letter from placing first in a statewide art competition- twice.

I also earned a B.F.A. from Savannah College of Art and Design focusing on motion graphics and animation because I wanted something to fall back on but it ended up being my career. Although my artistic background informs my motion design work daily, true freedom for me comes from painting.

My artistic influences come from my Texas upbringing plus music and pop culture of the 80s and 90s. I paint from life and from photos with subject matter ranging from Texas landscapes and animals, pop culture portraits, and still life.
